2009 Event Supported By:
Top Manitoba Chefs.
The best of Manitoba's Harvest.
One special evening.
September 23, 2009 -- a perfect evening for Manitoba's first ever Farmers' Feast. The food was fabulous. The music and lights created a lively atmosphere. The weather gave an approving nod, with warm breezes and a clear sky. This gourmet, outdoor feast, hosted at The St. Norbert Farmers' Market, united some of Manitoba's best chefs with the freshest food from Manitoba's fields and farms. With wine glass and napkin in hand, guests wandered through a harvest festival, tasting the very best of Manitoba, from chefs, brewers, farmers and food artisans, all the while enjoying live folk and jazz music throughout the evening. Delightful flavours of Manitoba included Stonewood Elk meatballs with sweet and sour sauce; chili chocolate chicken skewers; Manitoba pulse falafels on pita with cucumber tzatziki; vegetarian pemmican with Saskatoon berries, sunflower seeds and canola; Manitoba beetroot hummous on golden zucchini; Red River Veal sliders with Ancho chili glaze; and much more. Delectable desserts included spicy chocolates; Manitoba apple squares; harvest squash cakes; and lucious brownies. It was a feast, indeed! Join us next year, to celebrate your local producers, and discover a new appreciation for Manitoba's food and agriculture at the second annual Farmers' Feast.
It will be a delight of the senses, designed to help us all to appreciate the wonders of Manitoba's foods.
Celebrate our food. Celebrate our farmers.
